Summer 2006
wow – clearly blogging is not for me, since I haven’t added anything to this site since last December. But, apparently you can now have friends on here like MySpace, and I’ve received two invitations, which sent me here to see my site after so many months away. I still like the concept, but after spending all day at work on my computer, I rarely get on my computer at home anymore, so I think updates will continue to be few and far between. So, a semi-annual summer update:
1) Went to see Real Madrid Wednesday night with many friends. David Beckham is just so darned cute – and he wears turquoise shoes!
2) Went the Faith Hill-Tim McGraw concert last night. Very good, big spectacle. The most annoying part was all the bows they kept taking though – just one is fine, maybe two, but seriously – just get back to singing…
3) Played in a mini-golf league – what we lacked in talent we made up for in style – check out the pics. We finished 12th.
4) Much more success on the big golf course, but again, not due to any talent I posess. Eleni, Jordan & I, along with friend Jesse, won the Lakeside Golf tourney – CRAZY!
5) Mar talked us into taking a six-week soccer class. Fun most of the time – I just liked doing the drills. Except for headers – those hurt! My forehead was sore for a coupel days. Soccer, not my sport though – clearly my gut instincts as a child were correct when all my coaches wanted me to play and I said no.
6) Heading to the Yurt today with Kelli, Lauren & Deanne. Sadly no Sallie once again. Will she ever get to the Yurt?
7) Parents have a new puppy, Izzi. Very cute, very social.
8) Finally got my sisters handbags up for sale on eBay – they sold for big money and I shipped off the last one today – woo hoo!
I think those are the major highlights of the month. Hopefully I’ll get to play volleyball a bit more with Lonnie & Tab now that the other sports are over. And maybe I’ll update this more often (though I doubt it!)
Rent
In recent years, my mom and I have joined the millions of other Americans who trek to the movies on the holidays as a part of their day. I mean why not? You have the day off and you can only gorge yourself for so long. This year I had eagerly been anticpating the film version of Rent as our Thanksgiving Day film – what better tribute to the holiday than singing and dancing about friendship & love? The songs from Rent had been filling my head for weeks as commercials arrived on TV and I sat enraptured through the movie, barely keeping myself from breaking out into song with those who can actually sing. Like all movie musicals, you have to suspend disbelief with everyone singing their way through a scene, but I loved it. Even though the actors are older than they should be, I think its cool they kept most of the orginal Broadway cast. One new addition, Rosario Dawson usually bugs me, but she was a perfect Mimi. and by the end my mom was crying, so what better recommendation than that?
