Inn at Langley
Just a quick post to recommend the Inn at Langley up on Whidbey Island to one and all (http://www.innatlangley.com/). I stayed there a couple weeks ago for a work thing and it was great. It is super cute and the staff is really nice. Each room is perched right on the water with a balcony. Even better, the bathrooms (and specifically the bathtub) also looks out on the water. the shower was done with cool rock tiles, and the bed comforter was nice and fluffy.

Heading up for our meeting, the one thing we were disappointed to miss was dinner at the Inn as they only serve it on the weekends during the off-season. They have a notable chef, Matt Costello, who focuses on using local ingredients and and is supposedly great. But, it turned out that he actually made our lunch each day, so it wasn’t a complete loss. The first day we got salmon over mashed spaghetti squash with a brown butter drizzle, and the next day we got roasted chicken over mashed potatoes. Both were simple but delicious.
Since we couldn’t do dinner at the Inn, we walked a couple blocks into town to Prima Bistro ( http://www.primabistro.biz/) which was really good. Our waiter was super nice and friendly and the food was great. We shared lots of cheese (Burrata and Raclette) to start, along with martinis for most. Then I had roasted chicken with polenta and some sort of smore cake for dessert. It was a fun night together for our group.

To cap off the meeting the next day, a few of us stayed to visit Spa Essencia: one got a massage, one got a facial, and me & Trudy each got a wrap. Mine was the Espresso mud wrap which started with 15 minutes in the steam room, then exfoliation with the espresso mud stuff. Next I was wrapped up like a big burrito as Trudy described it, to sit and bake for awhile. Then hosed off and moisturized. A good ending to a busy couple days…
